In a nutshell

Central St.Martins

I studied graphic design at Central St.Martins College in London at degree level, after which I became deeply involved in Improvised music, being lucky enough to play with some giants of Improv like Eddie Prévost of AMM, Jim Dvorak and Matt Davis. Living between Bristol and London I freelanced with web and graphic design and worked on as an assistant branch manager in a restaurant in Clifton Bristol.

Art and Music

During that time I was also involved in Art and Music on various levels working in an audio visual format, showing in the Metronom Gallery, Barcelona with Matt Davis and performing music in London, Bristol and France. I have also worked with my brother Joshua Portway on various art projects, one being Black Shoals, the Stock Market Planetarium which was installed at the Tate Gallery London. During this period I also formed The Gathering in Bristol which brought musicians and dancers together in an improvised context. This lead to the forming of my group Eaim (electro acoustic improvised music) which performed locally at that time.

Rentability.com

I moved to France full time in 2004 where I spent 2 years co-creating Rentability.com - a holiday rental website that offers a 'pay for results business' model (unique in it's field). I then started up Mokso and have been working as a freelance graphic and website designer for the last 3 years.

The future

I'm moving to Vancouver, Canada, with my partner and 3 children in September 2009 where I hope to continue working in graphic and website design and also re-involve myself in the music world.
